Kingdom Builders Step 2
Christmas Projects
Every December, Step 2 giving goes to work close to home. This year there are five projects, and every one of them needs hands.
What Step 2 means
Kingdom Builders is how we give beyond the week to week. Step 1 is our regular tithes and offerings, and that keeps the ministry of the church moving. Step 2 is over and above: giving that goes to a specific ministry or a special project. At Christmas, that means these projects.
The Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are already underway. The local projects roll out through November, starting Sunday, November 1, and run through the middle of December. Check back here, or stop by the Christmas Projects table in the lobby on a Sunday and someone will walk you through what is open.
The Projects
Happening now, shoeboxes due Sunday, November 15
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes
The shoebox table has been in the lobby since September, and it is still going. Fill a box with gifts and, through Samaritan's Purse, it reaches a child in one of more than 100 countries, often the first gift they have ever received, along with the Gospel in their own language.
How to take part
- 1Pick up a shoebox at the table in the lobby.
- 2Fill it with gifts, following the guide inside.
- 3Bring it back to the table by Sunday, November 15.
- 4Short on time? Sponsor a shoebox online and we will pack one for you.
Thank you for your generosity. This one is still happening, so keep going.
Starts Sunday, November 1
Teen Gifts with the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau
We are partnering with the Baldwinsville Christmas Bureau again to provide Christmas gifts for teenagers whose families are going through financial hardship in our school district. Teens are often the ones left out of holiday giving, and this is a simple way to change that for some of them.
How to take part
- 1Visit the Christmas Projects table in the lobby.
- 2Pick a numbered teen gift tag and sign it out.
- 3Shop for the gifts using the suggestions on the tag.
- 4Bring the gifts back unwrapped to the Christmas Projects table.
Help make Christmas special for a local teenager.
Starts Sunday, November 8
Winter Outerwear for Baldwinsville Schools
We are continuing our partnership with the Baldwinsville Central School District to get winter clothing to students who need it: coats, boots, snow pants, hats, mittens and gloves. The school nurses also keep an emergency supply on hand for kids who show up without.
How to take part
- 1Shop our Amazon wishlist. It is updated as student needs come in.
- 2Buy straight from the list and have it shipped to Word of Life.
- 3Donate new hats, mittens and gloves for the school nurses' emergency supply.
- 4Or give to Kingdom Builders Step 2 and let us shop for the urgent needs as they come up.
Help keep local students warm this winter.
Collected through LIFE Groups and ministries
Volunteer Christmas Gifts with PEACE, Inc.
PEACE, Inc. throws a Christmas party every year for its volunteers with disabilities or special needs, and we are putting together 30 goody bags for them. Each LIFE Group and ministry is adopting one item to collect, like snacks, games, coloring supplies or fun Christmas accessories. We will assemble everything into gift bags before the party.
How to take part
- 1LIFE Groups and ministries are coordinating their collections directly, so ask your leader what your group is bringing.
- 2A Step 2 gift helps cover whatever is still missing when the bags get packed.
Help us show care and appreciation to local volunteers who serve their community.
Launch date coming soon
Angel Tree with Self Direct
Coming soonWe are partnering with Self Direct on an Angel Tree for adults in our community. The tags are on their way. When they arrive, the tree goes up at the table and the details land here.
The Christmas Projects Table
Everything runs through one table in the church lobby. Come find it on a Sunday.
Where
In the church lobby, right where you walk in on a Sunday morning.
When
Sunday, November 1 through at least December 13, and longer if more needs come up.
Staffed on Sundays
Someone will be there to help you pick a gift tag, answer questions about a project, and take your donations.
Come back again
New projects keep rolling out through November, so swing by the table more than once.
Give to Kingdom Builders Step 2
Every one of these projects runs on Step 2 giving, over and above our regular tithes and offerings. A gift there buys urgent winter gear for a student and covers whatever a project still needs once the tags run out. Give online and choose Kingdom Builders.
