WORD OF LIFE APP — PRIVACY POLICY & END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA)

This document serves as the Privacy Policy, End User License Agreement (EULA), and Terms of Use for the Word of Life App (“the App”), owned and operated by Word of Life Assembly of God (“Word of Life,” “we,” “our,” or “us”).
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to all sections of this Policy and EULA.
If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Age Requirements & Safety
--------------------------------------
You must be 13 years or older to create an account.
Children under 13 may use the App only under a parent or guardian’s account.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Do not use the App to seek medical, legal, or mental-health advice, or to submit urgent or crisis-related information. In an emergency, call 911 immediately.
Nothing submitted in the App creates a pastoral counseling or advisory relationship.

3. Information We Collect

Name
Email address
Phone number (via automated SMS verification)
Profile photo (publicly visible)
Notes you create
Prayer requests (may include sensitive personal information)
Notes and prayer requests are not end-to-end encrypted.
3.2 Information Automatically Collected
We may collect:
Device type & operating system
App usage information
Crash logs
Notification tokens
We do not access GPS location, microphone, camera, or background activity.
3.3 Information From Third Parties
We integrate with:
Planning Center Online (PCO)
Supabase (database + SMS authentication)
Vercel (hosting)
Twilio or similar (SMS verification)
APNs/FCM (push notifications)
A licensed Bible API service, used to retrieve Scripture text displayed in the App
Bible API Usage
To display Scripture content, the App sends requests to a third-party Bible API provider.
This provider may receive technical information such as:
The requested Bible passage
The translation/version requested
Basic device or request metadata needed to serve the passage
IP address (automatically transmitted with API requests)
We do not send personal information to the Bible API provider unless required for functionality.
Bible text is provided under license from the respective translation copyright holders.
You may view Scripture content for personal, non-commercial use only.
Redistribution or storage outside the App may violate licensing terms.
Financial Information
Giving is processed externally through PCO.
We do not store or process any financial data.

4. SMS Authentication

6. AI Bible Study Assistant

The App provides access to an AI-powered Bible study assistant.
Your messages are transmitted to OpenAI, a third-party provider.
Important Notes
AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading.
Do not submit confidential, sensitive, personal, or crisis-related information.
Biblical interpretations or recommendations generated by AI may not be accurate, complete, or doctrinally aligned with Word of Life’s beliefs.
AI does not replace pastoral counseling or professional advice.

We are not responsible for the accuracy, truthfulness, or content of user-submitted prayer requests. Such submissions do not reflect the views of Word of Life Assembly of God.

8. Community Standards & Moderation

Do not submit:
Harassing, hateful, obscene, or explicit content
Dangerous, fraudulent, or illegal content
Defamatory statements
Copyrighted material without permission
Crisis-related or emergency requests
Medical, legal, or mental-health questions
The App is not monitored in real time.
For emergencies, call 911.

9. Sensitive Information (Prayer Requests)

Prayer requests may contain sensitive personal or spiritual information.
Submitting such information is voluntary.
Access is limited to authorized pastoral or ministry staff.

We retain data only as long as necessary for:

16. END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA)

This section constitutes the End User License Agreement governing your use of the App.
16.1 License Grant
We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not:
Copy, modify, or redistribute the App
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to access source code
Interfere with or disrupt App functionality
Use the App for unlawful or harmful purposes
16.2 Licensed Bible Content
Bible text displayed in the App is sourced from third-party Bible API providers and licensed Bible publishers.
You may view Scripture in the App for personal use only.
You may not republish, copy, export, or store Bible text outside the App unless the copyright/license permits it.
16.3 No Pastoral Counseling Relationship
Nothing in the App—including prayer requests, notes, or AI interactions—creates a pastor–parishioner counseling or professional-care relationship.
16.4 No Warranty
The App is provided “as is.”
We make no guarantees about:
Uptime
Accuracy
Reliability
Availability
AI content accuracy
16.5 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Word of Life is not liable for:
Lost or corrupted data
Inaccurate AI responses
Unauthorized access
User-submitted content
Service interruptions
Damages of any kind related to use of (or inability to use) the App
16.6 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Word of Life Assembly of God from any claims, damages, or losses arising from your use of the App or violation of this Agreement.
16.7 Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of this Policy or harmful behavior.
You may discontinue use or request account deletion at any time.
16.8 Governing Law
This EULA is governed by the laws of New York State.
16.9 Modifications
We may update this EULA at any time.
Continuing to use the App indicates your acceptance of any changes.
